The term allylic position is also used to designate the neighboring position of a double bond. Hydrogens located in that position are called allylic hydrogens ( H ).

The carbons located in the allylic position are called allylic carbons (*).
Carbocations, carbanions and radicals formed in allylic positions are stabilized by delocalizing the charge by resonance.
