Natural ketoses are a family of monosaccharides that contain a ketone group at position 2 of the chain.

Fructose is probably the best known ketose. It is found in fruits and honey. It has the same molecular formula as glucose (isomers), and is obtained by hydrolysis of sucrose (common sugar).
