Hello, I wanted to ask about the problem that is solved on the web

In section F) the 1-bromopropane that reacts with HCl

My question is regarding chlorine and bromine. Do they not compete with each other? I understand that as you go down in the group, the polarizability increases, therefore its nucleophilicity.

This makes me think that the bromine anion itself would be a better nucleophile than the chlorine anion. Why does it replace it in this case?

All the best!

Hello, that's right, you need an excess of chloride or somehow remove the bromide according to salt, for example by precipitating it.
Greetings.
