Good morning,
does anyone know how to remove denantonium benzoate from pharmacy alcohol? I want to eliminate it so that I can use ethanol as a solvent/extractor without having unwanted side reactions without having to pay the exorbitant prices that are paid for alcohol without this substance... I've been looking at azotropic distillations, I don't want to use benzene either because of its toxicity as an azotrope of ethanol. Sincerely

Hello! By distillation you would have no problem separating the denatonium benzoate since it is a quaternary ammonium salt with a very high boiling point. What you would get from distillate will be the water-ethanol azeotrope. In case you want to obtain absolute alcohol you could use dehydrating agents. Regards, Meric!!

Hello, I was also looking at that day because I needed ethanol and it is very expensive. Put to distill yes or yes, can you still do a biosynthesis with sugar and yeast?
